Thomas Salmon (1679, Meppershall – 1767) was an historical and geographical writer. According to William Cole (1714-1782) he wrote much of his work in Cambridge. Later on he moved to London. Salmon told William Cole that he had spent time at sea, and in the East and West Indies. He also travelled in Europe. Some of his works: Modern history, or the present state of all nations (London, 1739, 3 vols.), The universal traveller, or a compleat description of the several nations of the world (London, 1752-1753).
