  Art by Son ist der Künstlername von Cani (ausgesprochen Sonny). Cani wurde am 16. Mai 1986 in Mitrovica, Kosovo, geboren. Als kleiner Junge floh Cani 1992 mit seiner Familie in die Niederlande. Cani liebte es schon immer zu zeichnen, aber erst mit fünfundzwanzig fing er wirklich an, etwas damit zu tun. Er zeichnete Porträts und entwarf Tätowierungen. Schon bald entwickelte er einen sehr persönlichen Stil, den man heute deutlich in den Gemälden von Art by Son erkennen kann.

  Cani lässt sich für ein Art by Son-Gemälde und eine Art by Son-Skulptur von der Populärkultur inspirieren. Beispielsweise sind Art by Son-Gemälde an ihrem charakteristischen Zeichenstil zu erkennen. Er verwendet Acrylfarbe, in die das Motiv als Zeichentrickfigur mit schwarzen Linien eingerahmt ist.
